6.4C Ratio Tables and Graphs

Objective:

Students will write ratios for comparisons of two quantities and identify the multiplicative factor between them.

Standards:

6.4(C) Give examples of ratios as multiplicative comparisons of two quantities describing the same attribute.

Proportional relationships (Review)

Two variables are proportional if a change in one is always accompanied by a change in the other.

Gas

The constant of proportionality and unit rate are the same thing.

CPTable

If y is directly proportional to x, then the graph of y as a function of x will be a straight line.  The constant of proportionality is the slope.

Hands-on, online curriculum aligned math worksheets that automatically tracks student progress.

EQ10       Constant of proportionality from the equations

EQ11       Find the constant of proportionality for each graph

EQ12       Constant of proportionality for each table

EQ13       Fill in the tables based on their constant of proportionality

Differentiation:

Accommodations for instruction will be provided as stated on each student’s (IEP) Individual Education Plan for special education, 504, at risk, and ESL/Bilingual. Differentiation will be through small groups, visuals, use of calculators, extra time, supplemental aids and reteach if necessary.

Homework:

How do you use ratio concepts and ratio reasoning to solve problems?

Journal:

    • How can you write the ratio of two quantities?
    • How can you find the multiplicative relationship between two quantities?
    • What operations do you use to find equivalent ratios?
    • How do you compare two ratios?
    • How is a ratio table useful when comparing ratios?

Create your own problem.
