6.9 Equations and Inequalities

Objectives:

SWBAT use equations and inequalities to model real-world situations and solve basic equations and inequalities.

Students will:

    • isolate a variable using inverse operations.
    • combine like terms.
    • use the distributive property.
    • write an equation in slope-intercept form.

 Standards:

6.9A write one-variable, one-step equations and inequalities to represent constraints or conditions within problems
6.9B represent solutions for one-variable, one-step equations and inequalities on number lines
6.9C write corresponding real-world problems given one-variable, one-step equations or inequalities

Differentiation:

Accommodations for instruction will be provided as stated on each student’s (IEP) Individual Education Plan for special education, 504, at risk, and ESL/Bilingual. Differentiation will be through small groups, visuals, use of calculators, extra time, supplemental aids and reteach if necessary.

Homework:

Write and solve one- and two-step equations and inequalities in one variable.

Journal:
